80mm thermal printer paper is a thermal paper from Xprinter.

Thermal paper carries no ink; the image forms in a heat-sensitive coating, which is why the printer needs no ribbon. Paper grade matters more than people expect: poor rolls print faintly, fade within weeks, and leave residue on the print head that degrades quality over time. The saving per roll is trivial next to the cost of a print head.
